This miniature portrait is by an unknown artist, but it is a copy of a well known portrait of Alexander I (1777-1825) of Russia.
The condition of the miniature is not the best, needing some expert restoration, but when painted it was by a very good artist.
It is quite large at 121mm x 95mm, and logically was painted in the 19C, well before the Russian Revolution.
For more about him see Alexander I and Alexander I of Russia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This collection also contains miniature portraits of his son, Nicholas I by an unknown hand, and of his grandson, Alexander II by Ivan Winberg. 1120
